Klay Thompson may miss NBA 2019-20 regular season due to ACL injury

According to coach Steve Kerr, star guard Klay Thompson might not be able to play the current NBA season due to his ACL tear. Let us take a look at the details.

According to Golden State Warriors' coach Steve Kerr, it is unlikely that Klay Thompson will play NBA 2019-20 regular season. star guard is currently recovering from a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament). Thompson tore his left knee's ACL during 2019 NBA finals Game 6 on June 13. Golden State Warriors have ir first NBA 2019-20 regular season game on Friday, October 25, against LA Clippers.

NBA news: Klay Thompson injury update

Last month, general manr Bob Myers revealed that five-time All-Star will t play until at least All-Star break. In a recent interview with American media, Kerr said that Thompson might 'realistically' miss entire season taking recovery time needed for a torn ACL into consideration. He said that it is unlikely that Thompson might play this year, and team will have to understand and accept that. Kerr clarified his comments later, saying that re might be some chance that star guard might play this year. He said that his comments were 'matter of fact', and he was generally talking about recovery time of an ACL tear, which is 9-12 months. After nine months, season end will be near. He also mentioned that he is t making any anuncement, and Thompson is doing great in rehab and can still return.

Thompson underwent surgery to repair his ACL tear on July 2. Myers also clarified that All-Star break is meant for Thompson's status update and t a probable period for his return. Kerr also admitted that he should t have commented on situation, and asked people to calculate on ir own. As April 1 will be nine-month mark after surgery, one can only hope for best. In meantime, Golden State Warriors will focus on training youngsters who will play instead of Klay Thompson, developing ir skills. se players can n be in rotation and contribute more during playoffs. Thompson also talked about situation in an interview last month. Though he wants to play, he believes patience is a virtue and it will be a mistake to be hasty about process.
