Lewis Hamilton: Twitter congratulates racing star for 6th F1 title

Lewis Hamilton, the greatest driver of his generation, has overtaken Juan Manuel Fangio, leaving him one win behind former Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton on Sunday become second most successful racer in history of Formula 1 after winning his sixth world championship title in Austin. He finished second behind teammate Valteri Bottas in United States Grand Prix to secure title. Hamilton's 10th victory of season in Mexico last weekend had left him in need of just four points to clinch title which he delivered in Austin. With two races left in season, British driver has opportunity to have his best season so far with 12 wins, surpassing his 11 wins last season in 2018.

Hamilton's former teammate Nico Rosberg took to Twitter and congratulated him on his sixth Formula One world title. He wrote "Karting toger who would have thought that we'd both be #F1 world champion one day. And you? You’ve achieved it for sixth time – on your way to becoming GOAT. Impressive! My greatest respect – enjoy se moments and celebrate. Well deserved." 

Hamilton's rival Max Verstappen also congratulated him. He tweeted "Happy with our podium! We had a good pace, great race and did best we could. Congrats to Lewis on a phemenal 6th World Championship."

Team Haas' French driver Romain Grosjean also congratulated Hamilton for his world title. He added: “Congrats champ. Hope to be back (like good old days) to challenge you for podiums in future.”
