”I’ve been a Dodgers fan my whole life, you know, I grew up being a Dodgers fan. It was very important to be here just, you know, to experience this. The excitement, the environment, to be here. You know, obviously you can't afford World Series tickets because they’re expensive. But to be here and have this amazing experience with all the fans and just the love and the community of Dodgers, man, it's amazing.”

“Oh, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, I mean, like, I grew up watching the Dodgers, you know, it's exciting. We didn’t get it won in 2020, so it's just… you take the day off whenever you can and come out and support the Dodgers. And it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Who knows where we'll get it again? Yeah, I mean, hopefully next year. But this is exciting, you know, all these Dodgers fans, you grow up wishing about it, dreaming about it, being able to watch it, and you get to experience it. Like, not many people can say that, so…”

STORYLINE:

The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated their eighth World Series championship with a downtown parade and a stadium gathering featuring Shohei Ohtani and other star players on Friday.

Seven double-decker buses filled with players, their families and the coaching staff rolled along in front of thousands of fans.

Some players were smoking cigars and drinking beer on a sun-splashed day in the city.

The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in five games, clinching the title with a 7-6 victory in the Bronx on Wednesday.

The team said that because of logistics, traffic and timing, fans won’t be able to attend both events.

People dressed in blue Dodgers gear began gathering along downtown streets hours ahead of time.

The parade began at Gloria Molina Grand Park in front of City Hall with Mayor Karen Bass in attendance.

It made its way along a 45-minute route that culminates at the intersection of 5th and Flower streets.

The celebration at Dodger Stadium began shortly after noon.

The parade was carried on the stadium’s videoboards ahead of the team’s arrival.

A portion of the proceeds from the ticketed stadium event are to be donated to the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation.
