However, NASCAR confirmed via a social media statement that he was "relieved" investigation revealed it wasn't a hate crime, as initially feared. “I want to thank my team, NASCAR and FBI for acting swiftly and treating this as a real threat. I think we’ll glly take a little embarrassment over what alternatives could have been," Wallace said in his statement.
