On December 29, 2013, Michael Schumacher, the legendary F1 racer was in the French alps enjoying a ski session with his son Mick. As they went off-piste, Michael met with an accident where he sustained serious head injuries. He was placed in an induced coma for the next six months. Since then, the world has gotten to know very less about, arguably, the best F1 Driver of all time.

Rehabilitation in Lausanne

Michael Schumacher's family has kept him away from the public eye as they take his health as more of a personal matter. It is said that he has spent most of his time in his family home in Lausanne, Switzerland. A state-of-art facility has been created inside his home to tend to him and the world's best medical professionals are appointed to his care. In 2016, it was reported that Schumacher could not walk.

The Legend Turns 50

Before his 50th Birthday, the family passed a statement saying that - "You can be sure that he is in the very best of hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him". They also launched the 'Michael Schumacher App' which is a digital collection of the 7-time F1 Champion's achievements. His wife, Corinna, commented that "Michael is a fighter and will not give up". It was reported that Michael recently watched a movie with his family and friends.

Stem-Cell Therapy

It was recently revealed that Schumacher was undergoing Stem-Cell Therapy in Paris. His doctor predicted that he may be able to cry and move his thumbs. A nurse tending to Schumacher revealed that he is now conscious. Schumi's Ferrari Manager, Jean Todt, visited him in the hospital and commented that Schumacher continues to make "good progress" and he "keeps fighting". Schumacher's son, Mick, is taking over his father's legacy as he is racing Formula 2 while being on his way to his Formula 1 debut. The stem cell therapy development has given hope to Michael Schumacher's legions of fans.
