MLB 2020 season to proceed with 60-game regular season after owners approve proposal

MLB owners have unanimously voted to proceed with the MLB 2020 season in line with the March 26 agreement. The MLBPA rejected the latest 60-game proposal.

USA's Major League Baseball (MLB) team owners have unanimously voted to proceed with MLB 2020 season as per terms of ir March 26 agreement, a statement from league ted. This comes after MLB Players Association (MLBPA) voted down MLB's latest proposal for a 60-game MLB 2020 season with an expanded playoff format. With both parties refusing to budge with ir demands for upcoming season, March 26 agreement gives power to commissioner Rob Manfred to choose schedule for season. Earlier, MLB owners rejected a 70-game proposal from MLB Players Union.

MLB 2020 season: MLB 60 game season likely to be approved by Rob Manfred

"Today, Major League Baseball Players Association informed us that y have rejected agreement framework developed by Commissioner Manfred and Tony Clark. Needless to say, we are disappointed by this development," MLB said in ir statement. " framework provided an opportunity for MLB and its players to work toger to confront difficulties and challenges presented by pandemic. It gave our fans chance to see an exciting new postseason format."

With go-ahead from MLB owners, league has w asked MLB Players Union about ir agreement on two things; first being wher players will be able to report to camp by July 1 and second being if MLB Players Union will be able to manually operate  safety protocols. According to reports, MLBPA will likely approve two conditions. As of w, 'When will MLB season start?' query cant be answered.

MLB Players Union rejects latest proposal

MLBPA executive board conducted a meeting on Monday where 38 members voted 33-5 to dismiss MLB's 60-game framework. Before members voted to reject proposal, Rob Manfred and union executive director Tony Clark discussed terms if proposal in a meeting last week. Amid uncertainty ahead of MLB 2020 season, league is bracing for season without fans being allowed in stadiums.

player salary continues to be sticking point between both parties. With rejection of latest proposal, MLBPA hands authority to commissioner, which also guarantees  players' fully prorated pay.

Cincinnati Bengals pitcher Trevor Bauer expressed his frustrations with delayed agreement between MLB owners and MLBPA. Bauer wrote coronavirus pandemic has already made circumstances difficult, which is being made worse by both unions.
