MLB revenue breaks 2018 ceiling, hits record $10.7 billion mark in 2019: Forbes

MLB revenue breaks 2018 revenue ceiling
$10.7 billion in revenue for 2019 season is an increase from $10.3 billion previous year. According to report by Forbes, this is 17th consecutive year that MLB has seen record growth over years. In 2017, MLB first crossed $10 billion mark. However, despite record revenue for 17th year running, MLB has plans of slowing down. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred spoke in light of record-breaking MLB revenue, with MLB commissioner saying that league is looking to add even more revenue by adding ar media partner.

Rob Manfred said that MLB is 'thriving' and despite having three media partners in form of ESPN, Turner, and Fox, MLB is looking to add a fourth one. induction of a fourth network partner within MLB network, however, will depend on how negotiations unfold, MLB commissioner added. Rob Manfred concluded by saying that if league ends up with three network partners y have currently, y would be "perfectly happy" with situation. Interestingly, MLB's current deals with ESPN and Turner run only till 2021. Fox Sports Network, however, signed an extension in 2018. extension will see Fox cover MLB till year 2028. In addition to se deals, MLB's $1 billion uniform deal with Nike also kicks in next year.
