St. Louis Cardinals have emerged as a "viable suitor" for lan Areno as Cardinals are reportedly looking to d ar star position player before Spring Training begins in February. five-time All-Star and seven-time National League Gold Glove Award winner has a -tre clause included in his contract.
Areno is currently entering second year of his 8-year extension with Coloro Rockies and has USD 234 million payable over a period of 7 years.

St. Louis Cardinals have financial ability to afford USD 234 million left on lan Areno’s contract, although Areno could opt out after 2021 MLB season.
