Khamzat Chimaev announces return, desires to fight for the title

Chimaev has expressed his desire to compete for the title at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi. With a perfect record of seven wins and no losses, he believes he merits a shot at the championship. However, UFC President Dana White appears to have a different perspective on the matter.

Khamzat Chimaev is gearing up for a comeback and has set his sights on UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi (October 26, 2024). He recently expressed his enthusiasm to Match TV, “Most likely [my return will happen] in October in Abu Dhabi. The opponent is not yet known, but I would like to fight for the title.”

Several roadblocks to the Octagon

Chimaev's confidence is evident as he highlights his record: "I have seven fights, seven victories. There is no fighter in the UFC who has won seven fights without fighting for the belt." However, his return to the octagon has faced several obstacles. Recently, Chimaev had to withdraw from a fight due to a serious illness that led to hospitalization.

This isn't the first instance where his health has posed a setback, and it seems to be a recurring issue. Despite these challenges, his manager, Majdi Shammas, remains hopeful, emphasizing that Chimaev will return stronger.
