Sean O'Malley keeps Makhachev over Jones

According to Suga Sean, the UFC Lightweight Champion, Islam Makhachev is the current GOAT in UFC. The Russian holds the number one spot on the Pound for Pound ranking as well, hence, he is the contender for the tag. However, as per UFC CEO Dana White, there is only one person who is more worthy GOAT than others, and it is the UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. Recently white expressed his anguish over Jones not being given the No.1 position on the P4P rankings. O'Malley also considered Jones' name and admitted that he is right up there according to him, but when it comes to the current best, O'Malley showcased no doubt in mentioning Makhachev's name.

“I think Jon’s fought once in the last 4-5 years. Jon Jones is up there for greatest of all time, but right now who’s the greatest… I think it’s Islam.”

Having incurred no clean loss in his MMA career, Jon Jones would always make a case for the GOAT stature, however, due to him being extremely inconsistent in the last 4 years, there are other fighters who have come in the fray. Islam Makhachev is the current contender for the spot. Before him, there was Alexander Volkanovski and Kamaru Usman. Yet, as the options are piling up, the impact that Jon Jones has managed to create has remained unerased. Hence, he may or may not top the rankings but Jon Jones will forever he hailed as arguably the best to have ever stepped inside the Octagon.
