Minnesota Twins offseason signing Kenta Maeda said he is ready for the season on Monday.
The Japanese right-hander pitched five innings and allowed six hits and three runs during the Twins' intrasquad game at Target Field.
Throwing 84 pitches, Maeda gave up a two-run homerun in the second inning, but he pitched well by striking out seven batters to conclude his last competitive pitches in the summer camp.
There was a scary moment for Maeda in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he hit new free agent slugger Josh Donaldson with a pitch, but Donaldson appeared to be fine at first base.
Maeda joined the Twins from the Los Angeles Dodgers over the winter.
