Golden Couple: Husband Secures Paralympic Gold Days After Wife Wins Olympic Gold

In an extraordinary display of athletic prowess and marital support, Hunter Woodhall clinched his first Paralympic gold medal in men’s 400m T62 final at Ste de France on Friday, September 6. His victory comes just weeks after his wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall, secured her own gold medal in women’s long jump at 2024 Paris Olympic Games, held at same venue.

Hunter Woodhall’s triumph in 400m T62 event marked a significant personal milestone, as he completed race in 46.36 seconds, surpassing Germany’s Johannes Floors. This victory was particularly sweet for Woodhall, who h previously lost to Floors at Tokyo Olympics and finished third in same event in 2021 behind Nerlands' Olivier Hendriks.

Reflecting on his victory, Hunter Woodhall shared, “Before Olympics , Tara was writing in her journal, ‘I will be Olympic champ...’ I brought my journal with me and past few days I’ve been writing in re, ‘I will be Paralympic champion,’ and that’s come true.” 

He credited support and inspiration from his wife, stating, “Every day with Tara we are eating toger, training toger, recovering toger. I also have an incredible team. Those people are who make se moments worth it.”

“I was so nervous, I was so pumped – kwing he was rey to run and how much he wanted to win. And w he has,” Tara Davis-Woodhall said.
