Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform X to congratulate Kapil Parmar on winning a historic medal for India at the ongoing Paris Paralympics 2024. Kapil Parmar won the Bronze Medal in the 60kg men's judo category after he defeated Elielton de Oliveira of Brazil in their Bronze Medal match. Kapil Parmar defeated Elielton de Oliveira with a score of 10-0 to secure the bronze medal. This is a historic bronze medal for the country because this marks India's first ever medal in judo.

PM Modi took to his social media handle to congratulate Kapil Parmar on his historic achievement.
"A very memorable sporting performance and a special medal!
Congratulations to Kapil Parmar, as he becomes the first-ever Indian to win a medal in Judo at the Paralympics. Congrats to him for winning a Bronze in the Men's 60kg J1 event at the #Paralympics2024! Best wishes for his endeavours ahead," wrote PM Modi in his tweet congratulating Parmar.
Historic Medal For Parmar
Kapil Parmar defeated Elieton de Oliveira to secure the bronze medal for India at the Paris Paralympics in judo. This marked India's first ever medal in the sport in Paralympics. He had earlier lost to S Banitaba Khorram Abadi in the semifinals, beaten 0-10 by his Iranian opponent.
Parmar, who won the silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games in the same category, had earlier beaten Venezuela's Marco Dennis Blanco 10-0 in the quarterfinals.
