'Make India proud': BCCI announces huge monetary support for Indian athletes at Paris Olympics

In a significant move to bolster India's preparations for the Paris Olympics 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a generous monetary contribution. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah revealed that the cricket board will be providing Rs 8.5 crore to support the Indian contingent heading to the Summer Games, which begin on July 26 with the opening ceremony.

BCCI lends support to Indian athletes
"I am proud to announce that the @BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign. To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind!" Jay Shah wrote on Twitter, expressing his pride and optimism for the nation's athletes.
India is set to send 117 athletes to compete in Paris, marking the country's second-largest delegation to the Olympics, following the 121 athletes who participated in the Tokyo 2021 Games. This year's contingent comprises 47 female athletes and 70 male athletes, showcasing a wide array of talent across various sports disciplines.
In addition to the athletes, the Indian contingent will include 67 coaches and 72 support staff members, ensuring that the team is well-prepared and adequately supported throughout the competition. The BCCI's financial support aims to enhance the athletes' preparation and performance, providing them with the necessary resources to excel on the world stage.
