Indian women's Table Tennis team have advanced to the Quarterfinals of Paris Olympics after they beat Romania in a five set thriller in the round of 16. India had started on fire as Sreeja Akula and Archana Kamath teamed up to take the lead in the team match. 

Manika Batra followed it up with her singles win to take a two set lead for India. However, from that point on it all unravelled for India. Sreeja Akula went on to lose her game and Archana Kamath also lost her singles game as India had squandered their 2 set lead.

With the match at 2-2, the momentum was with Romania and they looked like they were going to pull off an amazing comeback win.  However, Manika Batra had different plans as she took responsibility and stormed to victory in three games to take India over the line and send them through the Quarterfinals.

Historic Quarterfinal awaits 

Indian women at Paris Olympics have had a valiant campaign till now with both Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula becoming the first Indian individual players to reach pre-quarters in table tennis. 

And now Indian women's team led by Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula and Archana Kamath will is the first ever Indian team to reach the Quarterfinals of Table Tennis at the Olympics
