The Indian shooters have excelled at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Swapnil Kusale achieved a bronze medal in the Men's 50m Rifle 3 Position Event on August 1, 2024, during his first participation in the Olympics, following the impressive performances of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh. The national hero Swapnil Kusale was born in Pune, Maharashtra, on April 6, 1995. He comes from a family with a heritage in agriculture. Kusale's foray into shooting commenced when his father registered him in Maharashtra's sports program, Krida Prabhodini. India has won 5 bronze medals at the Paris Olympics 2024 so far (as of August 9, 2024, 2:00 PM IST) and one of them came through Swapnil’s sharp shooting skills.

How much prize money will Swapnil Kusale receive after a historic bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024? 

With both a sizable monetary award from the state government and a promotion from his organisation, Central Railway, Maharashtra rifle shooter Swapnil Kusale's historic bronze medal triumph at the Paris 2024 Olympics has brought him additional happiness. Originally from the Kolhapur area of Maharashtra, Kusale made history on Thursday by being the first Indian to take bronze on the 50m rifle 3 positions event.

Acknowledging his extraordinary performance, which helped India's medal count at the Paris Olympics 2024, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Kusale will get an award of Rs 1 CR. CM Eknath Shinde announced: 

“The Maharashtra government is announcing a prize of Rs 1 crore for Kusale. He will be felicitated on his arrival from the Olympics,” 

Swapnil Kusale, a 28-year-old athlete, has been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) by the Central Railway in honour. Kusale, earlier working as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE), has just been elevated to the role of OSD in the Sports Cell in Mumbai, as confirmed by Swapnil Nila, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway.

Kusale started his professional journey with the Railways in 2015, assuming the role of a Commercial cum Ticket Clerk in the Pune Division of Central Railway.

“Kusale has made history by bagging a bronze medal. This achievement not only adds to India’s medal tally but also establishes Swapnil as a significant figure in Indian shooting sports,” CR said in a release.

“His success comes after years of dedication and training, making him a role model for aspiring athletes in the country,” the release added.
