Imane Khelif, an Algerian boxer, overcame great challenges to win an Olympic gold medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The 25-year-old, who stood 1.79 meters tall, became well-known throughout the event. Originating from a little village about 300 km away from Algiers, Khelif's story surprised everyone by becoming a surprise hero in the Paris Olympics. In the women's 66-kg division, Khelif made a huge difference in the Olympic medal rankings by winning the gold over Yang Liu of China in a nail-biting final match.

Following a gender dispute, Imane Khelif names JK Rowling and Elon Musk in a cyberbullying lawsuit
During the Paris Olympics, Imane Khelif was at the centre of a debate about her gender. An event in which Angela Carini quit their match after only 46 seconds put the Algerian boxer in the spotlight. She made history by becoming the first female boxer from her country to win an Olympic gold medal.
Now, Khelif has sued several people, including Elon Musk and J.K. Rowling, saying they bullied her online because of the gender debate at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The report that was turned in on Friday says that these people are guilty of "aggravated cyber-harassment" against Khelif. Nabil Boudi, her lawyer, called the comments a "misogynist, racist, and sexist campaign." Nabil Boudi told Variety:

“JK Rowling and Elon Musk are named in the lawsuit, among others,”
Imane Khelif was included in an earlier photo that American swimmer Riley Gaines shared on social media with the statement, "Men don't belong in women's sports." Later, Elon Musk reposted this message and added, "Absolutely."

J.K. Rowling also voiced her disapproval by writing a piece denouncing Khelif's Olympic game participation. In her comment, Rowling said,
“Could any picture sum up our new men’s rights movement better? The smirk of a male who’s knows he’s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head, and whose life’s ambition he’s just shattered. ”

Before these competitions, the 25-year-old Imane Khelif was expelled from the women's World Championships by the International Boxing Association (IBA) for apparently failing a gender eligibility test. Notwithstanding this, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) let her keep competing in the Olympics.
