Neeraj Chopra has qualified for the final of the men's javelin throw event at Paris Olympics 2024. The Tokyo 2020 gold medalist kicked off his title defence with a massive throw. Neeraj registered a throw of 89.43m in his first attempt at Group B qualification to enter the main round.

Neeraj Chopra is currently leading the qualification phase in Group B. Anderson Peters of Grenada is second on the list with 88.63m throw.

Much like his performance in the Tokyo Olympics, the 26-year-old crossed the automatic qualifying mark of 84m in his opening throw itself.

The other Indian in fray, Kishore Jena, is unlikely to make the 12-man final after managing a best throw of 80.73m.

Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who is the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, also qualified for the finals with a throw of 86.59m.
