Neeraj Chopra reacts to Virat Kohli's heartfelt message for Olympics-bound athletes

Virat Kohli sent a special message to Olympics-bound athletes from India before the start of the marquee event in Paris this month.

The 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics is all set to be held in Paris, France from July 26, 2024 to August 11. The multi-sport event will take place across 16 cities across Metropolitan France. There will be 329 events spread throughout 32 sports, with competitors hailing from over 200 nations. In the meantime, the athletes who will comprise the Indian contingent will be the center of attention in India. Neeraj Chopra, who is anticipated to replicate his gold medal-winning performance from the 2020 Olympics, will also compete for India.

Neeraj Chopra moved by Virat Kohli's message ahead of Paris Olympics

Ahead of the Games, former Indian men's cricket team captain Virat Kohli, who recently won the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean, turned to social media to wish the Indian team well at this marquee event. In a video that he uploaded, Kohli could be heard listing out the country's accomplishments over the previous decade and expressing his hope that India would have similar success at the Paris Olympics

Neeraj Chopra, the reigning Olympic champion and World champion in Men's javelin throw, took to the comment section of the post to thank Kohli for the support.

India sent the greatest number of athletes to the Olympics at the previous edition in Tokyo - 124. This year, the number of athletes from India are expected to grow significantly and the chances to win more medals will also increase. A total of 82 Indian athletes have booked a spot for Paris Olympics 2024 so far.

What next for Virat Kohli?

As far as Virat Kohli is concerned, the T20 World Cup 2024 winner has announced his retirement from the shortest form of international cricket and will now only feature in Tests and ODIs for India. Kohli is expected to play in the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy for India as his next major tournament.
