Lakshya Sen has made an electrifying start to his Paris 2024 Olympics campaign, showcasing his prowess on the court with a convincing victory over Kevin Cordon of Guatemala. In his debut match of the men's singles badminton tournament, Sen delivered a powerful performance, securing a straight-game win with scores of 21-8, 22-20 in just 42 minutes.

Lakshya Sen's dream Olympic debut

From the outset, Lakshya Sen demonstrated his intent and skill. He stormed through the first game, wrapping it up 21-8 in a mere 14 minutes. His aggressive play and precise shots left Cordon struggling to keep up, setting a high tempo that seemed to overwhelm his opponent.

The second game proved to be a test of Sen's resilience and determination. Cordon, not one to be easily defeated, rallied strongly and established a commanding lead. He even held four game points, putting Sen’s Olympic aspirations in jeopardy.

However, the 22-year-old Indian shuttler displayed remarkable composure and fighting spirit, staging a dramatic comeback. Sen won six consecutive points, turning the tide to clinch the second game 22-20 and secure the match.

Lakshya Sen's next challenge

With this impressive victory, Lakshya Sen has set the stage for an exciting continuation of his Olympic journey. He is scheduled to face Julien Carraggi of Belgium in his next match on July 29. Sen's performance in this upcoming encounter will be closely watched as he aims to build on his strong start and progress further in the tournament.
