Paris Olympics 2024: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is sending the largest ever India contingent to the 33rd Summer Games. India scripted history in Tokyo Olympics 2020 by winning 7 medals, their highest ever across the 128 years of Olympics. The Indian contingent has high hopes from the likes of Neeraj Chopra, Nikhat Zareen, Satwig-Chirag and many others. But as far as team sports are concerned India's hopes remain fixated on field hockey.

Field Hockey has been India's national game and has also been the strongest sport for India in the Summer Games. The 'Blue Brigade' has won a total of eight gold medals. But India's dominance dipped in Field Hockey after the 1980s. But with the stakes high for the 33rd Summer Games, the Indian team is all set to better their performances of Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Indian team finally put an end to their 41-year medal drought in the 32nd edition of the Summer Games by clinching a gold medal in Tokyo.

Despite being under the 'British Raj', India made their debut at the Olympics in 1900. The Indian team started dominating the sport starting from 1928 with Major Dhyan Chand at the helm of things.  India won back to back gold medals in 1928, 1932 and 1936 Olympics under his leadership
