Paris Olympics 2024: Indian Tennis Men's Singles and Doubles Event Draws, Start Time & More

As the Paris 2024 Olympics draw near, the excitement in the Indian tennis camp is palpable, with seasoned campaigner Rohan Bopanna and emerging talent Sumit Nagal set to represent the country in the men's singles and doubles events. The official draws, conducted in Paris on Thursday, have revealed challenging matchups for the Indian players in the first round.

Paris Olympics 2024: Men's singles and doubles draws

In the men's doubles event, World No. 4 Rohan Bopanna, who is also the reigning Australian Open champion, will team up with N Sriram Balaji, ranked 65th in the ATP doubles rankings. The duo will face a formidable French pair, Fabien Reboul and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, in their opening match. 

Roger-Vasselin, ranked 11th in the world for doubles, and Reboul, ranked 34th, present a tough challenge for the unseeded Indian pair. Should Bopanna and Balaji advance past the first round, they could potentially face the winner of the match between neutral athletes Daniil Medvedev-Roman Safiullin and the second-seeded German pair Kevin Krawietz-Tim Pütz.

In the men's singles draw, World No. 80 Sumit Nagal is set to take on France's Corentin Moutet, who is ranked 68th. A victory in this encounter would see Nagal advance to a second-round clash against either Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff (world No. 34) or Australia’s Alex de Minaur (world No. 6). 

Nagal, who made history at Tokyo 2020 by becoming the first Indian in over 25 years to win a singles match at the Olympics, will be looking to build on that momentum in Paris.

The experienced Rohan Bopanna, now 44, returns for his third Olympic Games, having previously competed in London 2012 and Rio 2016. At London, he reached the second round with Mahesh Bhupathi in the men's doubles, while at Rio, he narrowly missed a mixed doubles bronze medal with Sania Mirza.

Paris Olympics 2024: Men's singles and doubles 1st round start time

The men's singles first round and men's doubles first round will take place on July 27 at 3:30 PM IST. All matches will be contested on the iconic clay courts of Roland Garros. The men's singles event will feature 64 players and the men's doubles will comprise 32 teams.
