For the first time ever, the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony will not be held in a traditional stadium setting. Instead, this historic event will take place on the Seine River, which flows through the heart of Paris.

Rather than the customary march of athletes along a track, spectators will be treated to a vibrant river parade through the French capital. The procession will start at the Austerlitz Bridge and continue westward along the Seine, passing beneath historic bridges and past iconic landmarks such as Notre-Dame and the Louvre. The parade will also pass by some of the Games venues, including the Esplanade des Invalides and the Grand Palais, offering a unique and scenic start to the Olympics.

The journey will begin at 7:30 p.m. local time. The parade will culminate in front of the Trocadéro, where the remaining Olympic protocols and final performances will take place.

The Opening Ceremony for the Paris 2024 Games will feature approximately 94 boats in the parade fleet, making it the first time in Olympic history that a river will serve as the main stage. The boats will carry delegations and performers from 206 countries along the Seine, creating a unique and memorable spectacle for the event.
