The Indian weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is ready to show great performance at the next Paris Olympics. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, a silver medallist from Tokyo 2020, has obtained India's only weightlifting quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Finishing third in Group B at the IWF World Cup 2024 in Phuket helped her to win her berth.
Weightlifters had to comply with particular requirements including participation in the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships and the 2024 IWF World Cup if they were eligible for the Summer Games. Attending the weigh-in at the 2023 World Championships, Chanu chose not to lift in order to keep her fitness for the Asian Games.
Lifters also had to participate in at least three of the following competitions: the 2022 World Championships, 2023 Continental Championships, 2023 Grand Prix 1, 2023 Grand Prix II, and 2024 Continental Championships. Chanu marked her presence in the 2023 Grand Prix II, and competed in the 2022 World Championships, and 2023 Asian Championships, so meeting these criteria.
