PR Sreejesh Stays Firm on Retirement Decision as Hockey India Unveils New Role for Veteran Star
PR Sreejesh has put a stay on his decision to retire from national duty despite his promising showcase at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Team India won bronze.

PR Sreejesh capped off his journey with Indian Hockey team with a bronze medal win over Spain at 2024 Paris Olympics. While team rooted for gold, y had to settle for a bronze finish. Sreejesh donned India jersey, and he was impressive in his last campaign for team.

PR Sreejesh Says Retirement Plans Remain Unchanged Despite Stellar Performance at Paris Olympics
PR Sreejesh spoke with ANI after competing in his final match for Hockey India. he expressed delight at team's performance, saying y did a spectacular job. He was also asked on wher he would reverse his decision to retire, but he said that it is a sign-off for w and he hasn't thought about it.
"Team performed very well today. It bounced back well after semis. This was t an easy match. I think team did a wonderful job. [About rethinking his retirement decision] I am happy and going home. My family is waiting for me. I have t thought anything about it. For w, it's a signing-off," Sreejesh said.

But Hockey India Secretary General, Bhola Nath Singh may have a massive opportunity for Sreejesh as he anunced that veteran goalkeeper would become head coach of Team India Junior Hockey side. HI Sec-Gen added by saying that he will be discussing with SAI and Indian Government for Sreejesh to be appointed for role.

"Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh has played his last match today, but today I want to anunce that Sreejesh will be head coach of Junior India Hockey team...We will discuss this with SAI and Government of India...," Bhola Nath said.
Harmanpreet Singh's brace and PR Sreejesh's extraordinary saves allowed Team India hockey to secure a 2-1 lead over Spain and secure a bronze medal. Indian Hockey Team made history after winning two consecutive bronze medals for second time. first time it happened was at 1972 Munich Games.
