'Arshad Nadeem can’t even afford air tickets. It’s an insult': Ex-PAK cricketer blasts Pakistan PM

Arshad Nadeem, who once had to crowd-fund to buy himself a javelin, is now showered with congratulatory messages from the Pakistan government upon winning the Gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Nadeem's medal has ended the neighboring country's 32-year-long wait for a podium finish at the Olympics. Thus, fortunes are ought to be spewed toward Nadeem.

Danish Kaneria goes hard on Pak PM for sharing old picture with Arshad Nadeem 

Pleased with the performance of Arshad Nadeem in the Javelin Throw final, where he created an Olympic record by meeting the distance of 92.97m, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif took to X to congratulate Nadeem and shared a picture along with him of an older event where he had met the Olympic champion and handed him a cheque of 1 million PKR, which translates into 3 lakh INR.

Noting the post by the Pak PM, former Pakistan player, Danish Kaneria took a jibe at him and asked him to delete the post, stating that 1 million PKR wouldn't even cover Arshad Nadeem's travelling expenses.

“Mr. Prime Minister, at least offer a graceful congratulations. Delete the picture of the million rupees you gave—it does nothing for his real needs. This amount is so small he can’t even afford air tickets. It’s an insult to both Arshad and the nation, considering his ongoing struggles.”

Arshad Nadeem breached the eminent 90m mark twice in the Men's javelin final. India's Neeraj Chopra came second at the event, his throw which covered the distance of 89.45m, was good enough to position him second on the podium, but couldn't get him the second gold that he was vying for. Despite winning the Silver medal and becoming only the 4th individual from India, who secured more than one medal at the Olympics, Chopra still called for improvement in his game.
