Grappler Vinesh Phogat had stayed back as she was waiting for the CAS verdict as she had appealed for a joint silver medal following her disqualification. During the weigh-ins, the Indian Grappler was found 100 grams overweight, which led to her disqualification. A medal was assured for Vinesh, but all her chances were thwarted after the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed the wrestler's plea. Phogat had announced her retirement after her ousting, which left the wrestling fraternity in shock.

With Vinesh back in India, it is yet to be seen if the grappler would consider reversing her retirement decision. Uncle Mahavir, her fellow wrestlers, and the WFI may try to talk her out from retirement. It is yet to be seen what happens next.
