WFI chief Sanjay Singh finally breaks silence on Vinesh Phogat weigh-in controversy

Sanjay Singh, chief of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has finally broken his silence on ongoing Vinesh Phogat controversy at Paris Olympics 2024. Speaking to media, Sanjay Singh has said that his team is trying to get Vinesh Phogat in finals. Phogat was disqualified from her gold medal match after failing weigh-in for 50kg event.

Sanjay Singh has pointed fingers at Vinesh Phogat's coach and nutritionist for goof-up and has said that WFI is looking how to pursue matter legally. Sanjay Singh has also pointed out that Vinesh's weight was constant for two days but it increased overnight and only her team can explain reason behind it. Sanjay said that IOA President PT Usha has reached Games Vill in Paris and will look into matter.
"It is extremely unfortunate for our country that even after wrestling so well and qualifying for finals, she was disqualified for being overweight by 100 grams. government of India has provided her coach, nutritionist, and physio to Vinesh Phogat. All of m are with her in Games Vill. Her weight was constant for 2 days but it increased overnight. reason for this can only be given by her nutritionist and her coach. WFI is looking after legal procedure. PT Usha has reached Games Vill. We will have a discussion and decide how to protest against IOC and UWW," Sanjay Saingh told ANI.
