Petr Cech marks ice hockey debut with man of the match performance

Premier League legend Petr Cech made a winning start to his ice hockey career after helping his side Guildford Phoenix to a shoot-out victory against the Swindon Wild cats 2 in his maiden appearance on Sunday. His debut game was watched by more than 900 people at the Guildford Spectrum.

Petr Cech football career
The ex-Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper had retired from football in the summer and took the role of Chelsea's technical and performance adviser. He had a stellar career at club level having won four Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, a Champions League title and the Europa League during his playing career.

Petr Cech Ice hockey announcement
Petr Cech surprised the sporting world after announcing he had joined an Ice hockey team, having played the sport growing up in Czech Republic. The former shot-stopper confirmed last week he had signed for Guildford Phoenix, who play in British Ice hockey's fourth tier.

Cech, who wore a custom-made helmet which carried the colours of his former football clubs Arsenal and Chelsea, admitted he had wanted to become an Ice hockey player as a child, but his family were unable to afford the cost of the gear.
Earlier, the head coach of Guildford Phoenix Andy Hemmings told the club’s website that the signing of Petr Cech is massive for the side and he couldn't wait to see him make his debut.
