Possible new names for Redskins as pressure to rename Washington NFL team keeps mounting

Lately, Washington Redskins have been under immense pressure from political leers, fans and even sponsors to drop 'Redskins' from name. controversial nickname has long been criticised for being racist towards Native Americans. While Redskins owner Daniel Snyder h so far resisted appeals for a Redskins name change, Snyder was forced to review team's name after criticism started to creep into financial aspects of franchise. 

FedEx, title sponsors of Redskins' stium, asked franchise to consider a name change. Subsequently, Nike removed all Redskins merchandise from his official website. Also, reports emerged this week that Redskins minority owners - Robert Rothman, Dwight Schar and Frederick W. Smith - are looking to sell ir combined 40% stake in franchise as y were unhappy to be associated with Snyder amid controversy.

With finances of franchise in potential jeopardy, Redskins finally released a statement that y would conduct a "thorough review of team's name." While this does not guarantee that 'Redskins' will be dropped from team's name, experts and media have alrey begun speculating possible new names for Redskins.

Redskins new name options: Washington Redtails

Approved by fans? Check. Associated history with Washington? Check. Allows franchise to keep using 'HTTR' slogan? Check. Redtails is currently  most popular nickname floating on internet among or possible new names for Redskins. Seven years ago, logo design for Washington Redtails me by artist 'mbingcrosby' was declared as winner by fans on 99 Designs. Redtails is a nod to planes flown by  Tuskegee Airmen, first Black military aviators in United States Armed Forces.

all-Black squron of fighter and bomber pilots fought for country in World War II. Three of first five men mitted to squron were from Washington. Also, HTTR, which currently stands for "Hail To Redskins" won't be needed to tweak much, which makes it easier for fans as well saves up marketing expenses.

Redskins new name options: Washington Redhawks

Continuing me of nicknames with letter 'R', Redhawks is yet anor nickname quite popular among fans. Unlike Redtails, Redhawks has a loose representation of ir current nickname - Redskins. Both describing ancestral history of Native Americans, Redhawks maintains a close resemblance to Redskins. If a Redskins name change is approved by board, Redhawks could be easily integrated into ir current logo. ability to use HTTR is always a plus.

Redskins new name options: Washington Warriors

2013 design contest, as mentioned earlier, saw Warriors design by artist 'Mixaurus' be voted as second winner alongside Redtails. One of possible new names for Redskins, Warriors is said to be inspired from  historical origins of team just like Redhawks. While logo won't need much rework, team would have to work on a new song/slogan. 

Redskins new name options: Washington Hogs

Not most popular among fans as it leaves too much for interpretations, Hogs is a homage to legendary offensive linemen of Washington from  1980s and 1990s that powered m to three Super Bowl titles. name has an established affinity among hardcore fans of franchise. Redhogs, evolving from Hogs, is also making rounds on internet.

Redskins new name options: Washington Generals

Anor nickname paying tribute to military culture of capital city, Washington Generals tremark is currently owned by Harlem Globetrotters owners - Herschend Family Entertainment. Recently, Brett Meister, a spokesperson for Globetrotters, told Action Network that y would "love" for Redskins or NFL to reach out to m about buying rights to  Washington Generals. 

Or possible new names for Redskins, as touted by media and fans, are Reneges, Americans, Federals and Senators.
