MMA: Ritu Phogat’s One Championship Debut
Both Phogat and Kim Nam-hee made their professional MMA debuts at One: Age of Dragons in Beijing. While Kim Nam-hee had an amateur record of 1-0, Ritu Phogat was absolutely new to the MMA world. The women fought against each other in the seventh bout, from atom weight division (52 kg) and Phogat managed to surpass the South Korean in the very first round. After walking into the arena to A.R Rahman’s rendition of Vande Mataram, Phogat triumphed over her opponent in just three minutes. Ritu Phogat’s wrestling abilities helped her take down Kim Nam-hee with a clinch and once the fight came down to the ground, Ritu Phogat landed bombs over Captain Marvel’s face until the referee intervened.
