Shohei Ohtani drives in a run, pitches Los Angeles Angels past Seattle Mariners 4-3

Shohei Ohtani held Seattle to one run in six innings and drove in a run at plate, leing Los Angeles Angels to a 4-3 victory over Mariners on Wednesday.

Ohtani (1-0) kept Mariners scoreless after allowing a run in a bumpy first inning, finishing his day having allowed three hits and four walks while striking out eight.

Ohtani drove in Taylor Ward with a single in top of seventh against Mariners reliever Andrés Muñoz to put Angels le 4-1.

After Julio Rodriguez scored in bottom of first to give Seattle early le, Logan O’Hoppe hit a two-run homer against Mariners starter Chris Flexen (0-1) to put Angels on top 2-1.

Ohtani and Mike Trout both drove in runs off Munoz in seventh, but Mariners pulled within one run in bottom half of inning as Ty France and Eugenio Suarez drove in runs.

José Quija pitched ninth for his first save.

Mariners finished night with eight hits, while Angels h five in series-clinching victory.
