Double Olympic champion from India Manu Bhaker has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal made the announcement of Bhaker's appointment.

Manu Bhaker won two Bronze medals in shooting at the recently culminated Paris Olympics . Bhaker's link to Marine industries is not new as she is the daughter of a marine engineer.
Speaking after the signing, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “It is a moment of great pride for every Indian as well as for every member of India’s maritime sector that Manu Bhaker, the daughter of a proud marine sailor, is now going to champion the marine sector of India as she has been officially signed as the Brand Ambassador of the Ministry today."

Sonowal further added, "Her achievement as a successful sportsperson stems from the fact that she spent her forming years in a family driven by the values of marine sector - of punctuality, discipline, perseverance and humility. Through her story, we want to reach out to the people of India, especially the youth, to tell them about the promising life that marine sector offers and how one can meaningfully contribute towards Bharat becoming Atmanirbhar by 2047, a wonderful vision of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi .”
Reacting to the Manu Bhaker's appointment, Union Minister of State (MoS) Shantanu Thakur said, "Welcome on board Manu Bhaker. Bharat Ki Beti, the Indian ace shooter has been announced as the new brand ambassador of Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways. May she continue to inspire and motivate millions of youth."

Manu Bhaker made history for India as she became the first Indian post-independence to win two medals at a single Olympic event. She achieved success at the mere age of 22, leaving fans contemplating the total titles she will be holding at the time when she will call it a career.
