Simone Biles could clinch all-time World Championships record

American Simone Biles is arguably on her way to become the No 1 gymnast on the world stage. The 22-year-old won her 16th World Championship medal (22nd world medal) in the World Gymnastics Championships at Stuttgart in Germany. She is one behind the all-time record that is held by male gymnast Vitaly Scherbo's tally of 23 medals and Biles could beat Scherbo's record in the coming weekend. Let us take a look at the youngster's win.

"I wish I could have an out-of-body experience"

Biles won the gold with a score of 14.400 in the floor exercise as she only needed 12.300 for the title. In the presentation interview, Biles joked about how she wished to have an out-of-body experience to be able to see herself performing. She expressed her disbelief in her achievements and talked about how she watches videos of her performance and gets curious about how she managed to pull it off. Biles, who won four golds in the 2016 Rio Olympics, will be looking to pull off a solid performance in next year's Tokyo Olympics. In an interview, her coach Laurent Landi talked about how Biles is consistent in competitions but he advised her to calm down a little before her performance as her adrenaline may get the better of her.

About Simone Biles

Biles made her senior international debut in March 2013. She is a five-time world champion. She is coached by French Laurent Landi. In 2018, Biles revealed that she was a victim of US Olympic team doctor, Larry Nassar, who sexually abused the athletes in and out of the team. In August 2019, her brother was arrested in relation to a shooting that happened last December. Three people were left dead. Biles took a hiatus in 2017 and came back into the US national team in 2018.
