Claudio Ranieri was named Roma's third coach of the season on Thursday, replacing the fired Ivan Juric at the crisis-hit club.
Ranieri, 73, is coaching his hometown club for the third time, having previously led the Giallorossi from 2009 to 2011 and 2019. He also began his playing career at Roma.

Juric was fired on Sunday after a 3-2 home loss to Bologna left Roma in 12th place and only four points above the Serie A relegation zone.

Jannik Sinner became the first player to reach the semifinals. After Taylor Fritz, a U.S. Open finalist, defeated Alex de Minaur 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in their group, Sinner was guaranteed a place in the round of four. 

The Italian tennis player defeated Daniil Medvedev after winning his first two games. Novak Djokovic, who withdrew due to injury this year, defeated Sinner in the final last year.

Bayern Munich midfielder João Palhinha will miss Portugal’s upcoming Nations League games against Poland and Croatia with a groin injury.

Bayern said Thursday that Palhinha will travel back to Munich for further treatment. It did not disclose the severity of the injury or give a timeline for the 29-year-old player’s recovery.

Bayern next plays Augsburg at home in the Bundesliga on Nov. 22, before hosting Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, four days before it visits Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

During India's practice session at the WACA on Thursday, middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan was hit on the elbow while batting in the nets, but an MRI was not required. 

As he left the nets, the Mumbai run-machine was seen in a video that Fox Cricket shared holding his right arm. As he made his way back, he appeared uneasy. It has since been discovered that the batter's injury is not life-threatening, and an MRI was not necessary.
