Aussie No. 1 Alex De Minaur withdraws from Australian Open with abdominal injury

The youngster joins an increasingly long list of players who have either withdrawn or are close to withdrawing from the tournament due to injuries

Australian youngster Alex DeMinaur has withdrawn from inaugural grand slam of year, Australian Open. anuncement was me by tournament organizers on Thursday.

De Minaur withdraws

anuncement said that De Minaur is suffering from an abdominal injury. De Minaur was last spotted playing for his country in ATP Cup last week, where y were kcked out in semifinals by Spain. He played second singles' semifinals against Rafael Nal and although he won first set, he was t able to capitalize and lost match after Spaniard me a comeback. 

Earlier, De Minaur h withdrawn from elaide International tournament for same reasons. At time, he posted on his social media accounts that he hoped that he would be able to recover in time for Grand slam. However, that has t been case.

De Minaur is latest name in a growing list of players who have h to withdraw from tournament. He is fourth player who have withdrawn; Juan Martin del Potro, Andy Murray, and Richard Gasquet have also anunced ir withdrawals from tournament.

Del Potro and Gasquet are suffering from a knee injury whereas Murray has suffered a lapse in recovery from hip surgery. In December, Murray stated suffered a setback in recovery process from a hip injury. In a statement, he said, "Unfortunately, I’ve h a setback recently and, as a precaution, need to work through that before I get back on court, competing."

On Wednesday, it was anunced that Angelique Kerber h developed back pain and was thus forced to withdraw from elaide Open. She is doubtful for Australian Open.

Australian Open begins on January 20 and will go on till February 2.
