Bianca Andreescu becomes highest-ranked Canadian in Women's tennis

Tennis player Bianca Andreescu became the highest-ranked Canadian ever in Women's Tennis Association ranking after she jumped up one level reaching 4th spot.

Tennis player Bianca Andreescu became highest-ranked Canadian ever in Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. She has jumped up one spot and w ranks at fourth position in recent rankings which were out on October 21. Tennis Canada, a national governing body of tennis in Canada, tweeted about achievement. In month of September this year, 19-year-old became first Canadian to win a grand slam after defeating Serena Williams at US Open. With this, she became youngest Grand Slam champion since Maria Sharapova.

When Andreescu defeated Serena Williams

young Canadian champion clinched  US Open title defeating Serena Williams in a 6-3, 7-5 game. She said that she knew this would happen as she knew her idol, Serena Williams, inside out. She always looked up to her and dreamt of playing her one day, she had said. Andreescu knew that Willaims will t let her win without a tough fight. All that she could do afterwards was to be bold and hit big, way she did earlier in match, she had said.

Andy Murray all set to make Grand Slam return 

In men's tennis, former champion Andy Murray is all set to make his Grand Slam return at Australian Open in month of January next year. organisers of tennis tournament anunced on October 8 that Murray is healing better and is expected to get fit by beginning of tournament. He is presently ranked at 289 which is higher than his ranking last week (503). In year 2018, tennis star had to withdraw from Brisbane International and Australian Open because of a hip injury. He had to undergo surgery to recover from it. With passing time, Murray seems confident of getting back to a Grand Slam court. He won opening match of Shanghai Masters on October 7 where he defeated Argentina's Juan Ignacio Londero in 3 sets. He also made a quarter-final appearance in Beijing a week ago. organisers of Australian Open said that Murray is er to make a comeback into Grand Slam which is scheduled in month of January 2020.
