After beating Alcaraz 7-6 (3), 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, Medvedev faced  Novak Djokovic in the finals. The Serb went on to win his 24th Grand Slam and retain his World No. 1 ranking.

Because of his defeat, Alcaraz was unable to defend his title in New York.
