No. 1 Ranked Tennis Star Jannik Sinner 'Down With A Virus', Withdraws From Paris Masters

Top-seeded Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from Paris Masters, citing a virus. Italian player, who is guaranteed to finish year as number one, stated in a message that he will be unable to play this week.

“This is not an easy announcement to make. My team and I arrived early to prepare as best as possible, but unfortunately, I started feeling unwell during training and saw doctor on Sunday. It turns out I’ve come down with a virus. I’m feeling better now, but I’m still not rey to compete here in Paris. I was really looking forward to this tournament, so it’s disappointing, to say least. For now, I’m focusing on recovery and getting back to 100%. I’ll be aiming to come back stronger for Turin!” Sinner tweeted on ‘X’ [Formerly Twitter].

Jannik Sinner is second high-profile player to withdraw from final Masters 1000 event of year, following seven-time champion Novak Djokovic.

World Number One defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets to win Shanghai Masters earlier this month, giving Italian a tour-leing seventh title this season. Sinner became first man to win more than six titles in a single season since Andy Murray won nine in 2016. Italian tennis star's victory came after losing final of China Open in Beijing to Carlos Alcaraz and amid an ongoing doping investigation.
