Kevin Anderson to miss the rest of 2019 tennis season post knee injury

Kevin Anderson, the tennis player from South Africa, is set to miss rest of 2019 tennis season post knee injury as he has to recover before gearing up for 2020.

Kevin Anderson, the South Africa tennis player, announced that he will be missing the tennis season for the rest of the year. He announced his decision to put a hold on his game post his knee injury. Anderson after consulting a team of professionals concluded that the correct course of action would be to give the body the rest it requires. He added that his injury needs time to heal, therefore, making the recovery period extremely essential. Anderson is set to miss the rest of the tennis season to prepare himself for 2020.

Kevin Anderson faces a setback 

Anderson had earlier skipped the US Open as a consequence of his knee injury. The 33-year-old tennis player has not played a match since his loss to Argentine Guido Pella in the third round at Wimbledon. Anderson was also known to struggle with a right elbow injury from earlier this year. Since playing the Maharashtra Open in Pune in January, Kevin Anderson has managed to only perform in four tournaments so far. Those include the Australian Open and Wimbledon. In the men's singles rankings released by ATP on September 9, Anderson was dropped to take the 18th spot.

US Open Men's Singles finals 2019

Rafael Nadal defeated Russia's Daniil Medvedev with the score of 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York City. This captured Nadal's 19th Grand Slam title. The 33-year-old Spanish left-hander took home the prize of $3.85 million. With this victory, Nadal is only behind Roger Federer's all-time record of 20 Grand Slam singles titles. Novak Djokovic, who is 32 years old has a total of 16.
