Medvedev beats Coric at the finals of St. Petersburg Open 2019
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev on Sunday won his third title of the ATP St. Petersburg Open 2019 by beating Croatian Borna Coric 6-3, 6-1 in the finals

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev on Sunday won his third title of ATP St. Petersburg Open 2019. Medvedev continued his superb form in second half of season by beating Croatian Borna Coric 6-3, 6-1. He became first Russian to claim St. Petersburg Open trophy since Mikhail Youzhny 15 years ago. He w ranks World . 4 in ATP rankings.
Daniil Medvedev's statement
On winning title Medvedev said, “It’s an amazing feeling, I decided that after Cincinnati, my style is going to be to try t to show any emotions when I win. I find it funny for myself for my own reasons, and that’s what I did today, but I was extremely happy and it was tough to hide my emotions. I lost three times to him last year in a row. It was an amazing final and an amazing week. Many people didn’t believe in me this week I came here to win and I did it.”

Medvedev was playing in his fifth consecutive final after Washington, Montreal, Cincinnati and US Open. He broke Croatia's Coric twice en route to taking opening set and tightened his grip on contest with two more breaks in second to win his sixth career title in St. Petersburg. Earlier, Medvedev has clinched his Nitto ATP Finals berth in New York. He also won 24 of his past 27 matches leing in ATP Tour in wins this season (54-17).

Coric tried to keep Medvedev off-balance, offering a stey dose of slices to both sides. But Russian was too consistent and wasn't bored by any of it for too long. He broke twice more in second set. Medvedev never faced a breakpoint. “He was much better player on court. He did all aspects better than me. I tried pretty much everything, all tactics, all that I could think of. It didn't work. He h answers to every question of mine,” Coric said.

Five consecutive finals
Earlier, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev garnered appreciation and received raging roars from crowd as 23-year-old me his fifth consecutive final at St. Petersburg Open upon beating Belarusian qualifier Egor Gerasimov 7-5, 7-5. Medvedev, who broke in 11th game of opener went on to close match after 91 minutes after he broke again in 11th game, a while after two players exchanged breaks midway through second set.
