Novak Djokovic Makes Quick Work Of Musetti To Set Up Wimbledon Final Rematch With Carlos Alcaraz

Novak Djokovic has beaten Lorenzo Musetti in the semi finals of Wimbledon 2024 to set up a final rematch against Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic made quick work of Lorenzo Musetti in the Semi Finals of Wimbledon 2024 as he won in straight sets to advance to the finals of Wimbledon 2024 and set up a rematch of the 2023 final against Carlos Alcaraz. 

Heading into the semi finals, Novak Djokovic given the way he has played throughout the tournament was a huge favourite to advance to the finals. As it turned out, Novak Djokovic lived up to his billing and got the job done against Musetti 6-4, 7-6, 6-4.

With this victory, Novak Djokovic advances to his 37th Grand Slam Final and his 10th final at Wimbledon. 

Novak Djokovic stormed through in the first set of the game as his Italian opponent found it difficult to match the pace of the Serbian. However, in the second set Musetti did make things difficult but a resilient Djokovic prevailed in the tiebreak.

In the third set, Novak Djokovic felt like he was storming to victory as he was up 5-3 and had three break points to win the match. But Musetti did frustrated and managed to win that game. But as Djokovic always does, he bounced back and came to win the very next game with his serve to advance into the finals. 

A Mouth Watering Rematch Against Carlos Alcaraz

Novak Djokovic lost to Carlos Alcaraz in a five set thriller at the final of Wimbledon 2023 last year. But 12 months down the line, Novak Djokovic has a shot at redemption when he will face Alcaraz on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic in his post match address acknowledged the challenge Carlos Alcaraz will bring and spoke how tough the match is going to be but he hoped to come out on top.

“It's going to take the best of my abilities to beat him (Alcaraz) on Sunday…. He's certainly one of the greatest 21 year old we've ever seen in the sport. He's gonna win many more Grand Slams in the future but not maybe this one two days later,” said Novak Djokovic on the rematch against Carlos Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic Chases Roger Federer's Record

When Novak Djokovic faces up with Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday, he has a chance to do match a record which no one thought would be equalled in tennis.

A win on Sunday could not only mean Novak Djokovic's 25th Grand Slam but it could also mean that the Serbian could equal Roger Federer's record of 8 Wimbledon titles.
