Novak Djokovic's 'rebel' PTPA gets no support at all, player to rejoin ATP Council?
World No.1 Novak Djokovic has reportedly applied to rejoin the ATP Players Council, months after resigning to form the breakaway association PTPA.

World .1 vak Djokovic's bid to form a breakaway players association has run its course if reports are to believed. Serbian ace, along with Cana’s Vasek Pospisil and American John Isner h anunced ir departure from ATP Player's Council on eve of US Open 2020 to form Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA). PTPA was likely to co-exist with player council, but plans have been foiled as per reports.

According to Telegraph's Simon Briggs, World .1 vak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil have applied to rejoin ATP Players Council, just months after penning ir resignations. duo h resigned to form PTPA, which received massive criticism from likes Rafael Nal and Roger Federer. Briggs reports that PTPA struggled to recruit more members, especially after Djokovic's controversial exit from US Open 2020. votes for new breakaway committee should have been in by December, as ATP Player Council begins from January 1.

PTPA has drawn opposition of players including Rafael Nal and Roger Federer, with Swiss ace publicly opposing idea on social media, suggesting "It is time for unity, t for separation. se are moments where big things can be achieved as long as world of tennis is united". Andy Murray, meanwhile, threw his weight behind a players' union but believed that WTA should be on its board and current ATP manment should be given time to implement ir vision. ATP and WTA, four Grand Slam tournaments and International Tennis Federation released a statement in support of ATP furr affecting popularity of PTPA.

Serbian is currently competing in ATP Finals 2020, as he looks to equal Roger Federer's record of six year-end finals wins. 33-year-old alrey sealed his place at top of ranking for this year and will look to end season on a high with ar major silverware. 17-time Grand Slam champion defeated Diego Schwartzman in his 1970 Tokyo Group opener and will face off against Daniil Medvedev on Wednesday (Thursday for Indian viewers).
