Rafael Nadal produced a moment of magic against Alexander Zverev in the fifth game of the match even as the World No.1 lost the match to the defending champ.

Rafael Nadal, who is looking to defend his World No.1 ranking by winning the ATP Finals in London, made a poor start to the campaign after losing his opening match to defending champion Alexander Zverev. Defending champion Zverev completely outplayed the Spaniard to win the match 6-2, 6-4.

Nadal came into the tournament with doubts over his fitness. The current World No 1 made a positive start to the match before Zverev broke Nadal and went on a four-game streak to win the first set 6-2.

The defending champion kept the pressure on Nadal after breaking him again in the opening game of the second set. Zverev kept his foot on the gas and despite Nadal's best efforts, served out the match with ease to start the tournament with a win.

Though the match was a one-sided affair, the World No.1 produced a moment of magic. The Spaniard was serving in the fifth game of the match when he played a forehand drop shot to Zverev's backhand return. The German once again hit a back with forehand return only for Nadal to keep the ball in play. Zverev then hit a sliced backhand when seemed to have gone out, but Nadal stretched himself and hit a backhand that landed just inside the court. The moment was thoroughly enjoyed by the fans and garnered more than 1,70,000 views on Instagram. It is the highest for any video on Instagram for the ATP World Tour Finals 2019 on the TennisTV page, which is the official page of the ATP Tour on social media, highlighting Nadal's global popularity and ability to conjure magical moments time and again on any surface against any opponent.
