According to Richard Mille website, when Rafael Nal first met watchmaker in 2008 he didn't give much thought to wearing a watch on field. After a lot of convincing, Rafa and Mille created what was at time, world's lightest Tourbillon. ir most iconic piece was yellow and red to represent colours of Spanish flag, and skeletonized top was created to resemble Rafa's bull's he emblem. For French Open 2020 piece, creators were inspired by tensile strength of a tennis racket, which is why watch mechanics are set on a wire mesh that closely resembles a tennis racket.
