Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz make rankings history, first Spanish duo to achieve feat

With Rafael Nadal and Alcaraz taking top two spots in ATP rankings, it is the first time a country other than the United States has had the top two players.

Rafael Nadal climbed to 2 spot on ATP rankings on Monday despite making an early exit from US Open. Spaniard has t played any or tournament except Laver Cup, which was Roger Federer's last tournament. In latest ATP rankings, Nadal overtook Casper Rudd in ATP rankings after US Open runners-up lost to Nishioka in ATP 250 event in Seoul.

Carlos Alcaraz became youngest World 1 after winning US Open title. While he maintained his place at top of table, Rafael Nadal's move to 2 spot meant two players from Spain took top two places for first time in 22 years. last time two players from a single country held top two spots on rankings was back in August 2000. American tennis legends Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras occupied 1 and 2 rankings, respectively. Nadal returns to top two for first time since week of 3 May 2021. He was ranked as low as World . 6 this January.

Rafael Nadal Offers Casper Ruud a Chance for 'revenge' with promise

Rafael Nadal is all set to make his return to tennis court by playing on  exhibition tour across South America before end of this year. Casper Rudd will also be part of tour. Taking to Instagram, Ruud anunced that he will be joining Nadal on tour.  tour will get underway in Bues Aires on vember 21. former had lost to Nadal in Roland Garros final back in June and w has opportunity to take revenge t once but five times. 

In video, Nadal is asked by Ruud about a potential rematch to which Spaniard said, "Well, let me think. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to play a rematch in Bues Aires. If you win, I owe you a barbecue." He added "I tell you what, we’ll do five rematches. One in Bues Aires, Bogota, Quinto, Belo Horizonte, Mexico City. Is that eugh or t?"  rwegian looked happy to take offer from Nadal.
