Rafael Nadal informed about French Open delay prior to official announcement: Report
World No.2 and 12-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal was reportedly informed about the decision to postpone French Open before the official announcement.

French Tennis Federation (FTT) officially anunced that French Open will be rescheduled to September 2020 due to coronavirus pandemic. FTT received a lot of criticism from 'stakeholders of tennis' for postponing event to September. Tritionally, Roland Garros is second Grand Slam of year, but current scenario will mean that French Open will be final Grand Slam of year and will clash with Laver Cup.
While players like Naomi Osaka and Stanislas Wawrinka expressed ir discontent of t being informed on decision to postpone Roland Garros, reports suggest that 12-time champion Rafael Nal was consulted before official anuncement.

Rafael Nal is widely considered 'King of Clay' for his excellent record at Ste Roland Garros, having lifted 12 of his 19 Grand Slam titles re. While many stars including Naomi Osaka and Stanislas Wawrinka were shocked at verdict of rescheduling French Open, it seems like FFT officials kept Rafael Nal in loop. Roland Garros tournament director Guy Forget reportedly got in touch with Rafael Nal before official anuncement according to French Federation President Bernard Guidicelli.

According to RMC Sport, FFT h best interests of players in mind and cancelling tournament was unthinkable. He ded that Rafael Nal agreed to decision that allowed tournament to stay on calendar.

Rafael Nal will have possibly have to defend two Grand Slam titles in a five-week span as French Open is scheduled just a week after US Open. World .2 lifted both titles last year and will be aiming to do same when he takes court this year. However, Rafael Nal will have a selection dilemma as Roland Garros will w clash with popular Laver Cup.
