Rafael Nadal roasts Italian journalist on being asked about marriage

World No 1 Rafael Nadal on Monday drew controversy for arguing with an Italian journalist after he asked him a question regarding his marriage at the post-match press conference. The Spaniard lost to defending champion Alexander Zverev 2-6, 4-6  in his first round-robin tie at the ATP World Finals tournament. After his loss, Nadal was questioned about a dip in his concentration in the match being caused due to his recent wedding with childhood girlfriend Xisca Perello in the middle of the season.

The 19-time Grand Slam winner was visibly disturbed with the question and took severe offense to it. He refused to answer any further questions in English. Nadal replied to the journalist asking if his question was a joke or is he serious about it. The World No.1 continued that he is surprised about the question and he stated that he has been dating Perello for the past 15 years. He added that he has a stable and normal life.

Rafael Nadal's wrath

Nadal added that it doesn’t matter if one puts a wedding ring on the finger or not when it comes to playing tennis or things changing in life. He said that he is a very regular guy in his way. Talking to the journalist, Nadal questioned in return about his marriage duration. The reporter then explained about being married for 30 years before the tennis legend again hit back at him, saying that maybe he was not sure before that. He signed off in a sarcastic manner by refusing to answer the questions of English journalists any further and insisted that Spanish journalists take over.
