Roger Federer withdraws from ATP Cup citing personal reasons
Roger Federer announced his withdrawal from the ATP Cup which will be taking place in January. Federer said that he wishes to spend more time with his family.

Roger Federer has anunced that he will t be participating in inaugural ATP Cup tournament which will be taking place in January, 2020. Federer, in an anuncement via his Facebook p, cited family and personal reasons for withdrawal.

'Right thing for long run'
Federer, in statement, said, "It is with great regret that I am withdrawing from inaugural ATP Cup event. When I entered event last month, it was a really difficult decision because it meant less time at home with family and a fully intense start to season. After much discussion with both my family and my team about year ahe, I have decided that extra two weeks at home will be beneficial for both my family and my tennis. It pains me to t be a part of most exciting new event on calendar, but this is right thing to do if I want to continue to play for a longer period of time on ATP Tour."
ATP Cup will be played for first time between January 3 and January 12 next year. tournament will be played in a team format and t individually. tournament will take place in three Australian cities - Brisbane, Sydney, and Perth.

Swiss player also apologised to fans for t being a part of tournament and said that he will be seeing m in first Grand Slam of year - Australian Open, which is usually played in second half of month. He said, "I am sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment my withdrawal may cause for fans, but I hope you can understand why I me it. For my Australian fans, I look forward to seeing you all at Australian Open, fresh and rey to go."

Federer's withdrawal means that Switzerland will longer participate in tournament. rules state that if number one player of a country that qualified at first entry deline withdraws before second entry deline, team is withdrawn from top 18 countries unless ranking of its number two player qualifies team in Top 18. Switzerland's next-highest-ranked player who committed to play event at first entry deline was Henri Laaksonen, who was ranked . 110 at time.
Tuesday's anuncement is Federer's second withdrawal in as many days since on Monday, he anunced that he will t be playing in Paris Masters in order to spend more time with his family. rest will help legendary player to prepare well in le-up to ATP Finals in vember. Federer won a staggering 103rd ATP title and his 10th Swiss Indoors Open title on Sunday.
