Shanghai Masters: Rohan Bopanna-Denis Shapovalov exit men's doubles

Bopanna and Shapovalov's Shanghai Masters journey in men' s doubles category was cut short second seed pair of Marcelo Mello and Lukasz Kubot. 4-6,6-3,7-10.

India tennis men's doubles specialist Rohan Bopanna and his doubles partner Denis Shapovalov's Shanghai Masters journey came to an early end after pair lost ir men's doubles Round of 16 match in  tournament.  unseeded pair lost ir match against second seed pair of Marcelo Mello of Brazil and Lukasz Kubot of Poland. Indo-Canadian pair put up a strong show against ir higher-ranked opponent before going down in three sets 4-6,6-3,7-10.

While Bopanna and Shapovalov served seven aces, y committed eight double faults in match which came m to haunt in final sts. Melo and Kubot fired two aces and committed three double fault in match.

Earlier unseeded pair, who are playing ir eighth tournament toger this year, registered a 6-1, 6-4 win over Khachav and Rublev in first round.

After match, Bopanna also took to Instagram to share a video of his play from match where he returned from baseline and n ran crosscourt towards net to volley and win point, all on his own.

He captioned video as "Once in a while when legs feel like 20 again."

Shanghai Masters: Djokovic and Federer through to quarterfinals

Top seed vak Djokovic and second seed Roger Federer easily made ir way into quarterfinal round with a resounding win over ir opponents in ir respective second-round clash. Djokovic dispatched his American opponent John Isner 7-5, 6-3 while Federer defeated Belgian David Goffin 7-6,6-4 to make his way into next round.

Djokovic who ted that he had been nursing a shoulder injury heading into tournament, showed sign of a struggle with fitness as he wrapped up a 350th ATP 1000 career win with minimum of fuss. World 3 Federer had to use all of his experience to come through stern test from Goffin and reach quarter-finals.

Federer, who won Shanghai title in 2014 and 2017, will take on winner of German fifth seed Alexander Zverev and Russian Andrey Rublev, while Djokovic faces Greek sixth seed Stefas Tsitsipas in last eight.
